Other Shoe?

1) With the trade of Mike Comrie to the injury depleted Ottawa Senators this morning, will that move finally spur more GM's to act quickly? Thus far, outside of the 2 Isles-Philly trades its been an extraordinarily quiet season on the trade front. Many times all that is needed to spur on trades is one move by a team that becomes the first domino.
2) Some GM's may see this as a small window of opportunity to pick up that one or two players that they are coveting, but were unwilling to deal for earlier in the season due to cap concerns. With the season nearly 50% over a contract becomes a more easier fit into a team's payroll structure.
3) With only 8 weeks left until the deadline some GM's may see the time to move as now and not wait until later when the pickings may be small. One of our sources told us earlier today that the phone lines have always been open, but since the Comrie deal went down, things have really picked up as far as serious discussions.
4) Looks like Phoenix has decided its time to look towards 2007-2008, so a smart GM might want to contact Mr. Barnett about a possible Doan, Scatchard, etc trade. Will other teams follow the 'Yotes lead? The next obvious candidate would be the Blues with many vets who could help a playoff bound team. Stay tuned as things could be getting interesting!

Its time Kevin Lowe got off his ass and made a deal for someone who can play defense or maybe a goalie! Any good rumors for my Oilers faux?

a. First off, a great trade for Ottawa... Score a point for Mucks...

b. Faux, we are all still waiting for this Doan and/or Scatchard deal to go down... The Yotes have been playing much better lately, but apparently the time is right for a sell-off...

c. Doan is a very good hockey player - ANY team would benefit from his services... It really irks me that, according to you, the Rangers have the inside track... I guess I will stay tuned...

1) Thanks for all the question Sirhow. As you know Bob Gainey hasn't been too involved in team affairs in the last few weeks with his family tragedy
2) Its no secret that the Habs woud love to unload seldom used, but highly paid defenseman Janne Niinimaa. As the deadline approaches Bob will be sure to get something for the oft traveled, underachieving blue liner.
3) Once he can do that he would then have some wiggle room to add some depth for a playoff run.

1) Yes Antz, we're sure many are also getting antzy about a lack of deals thus far.
2) Discussions are on going, as they have all season, but with the 1/2 way mark upon us, and the deadline looming in a few weeks GM's could be a little more willing to pull the trigger now
3) Will the Comrie deal spur this now, or will it be closer to the deadline. That's the million dollar question, BUT the Doan/Scatchard discussions with the Rangers are legit. We hear the ball is in Glen Sather's court right now.

So what do you hear the Coyotes are asking for Doan? As long as we don't give up one of our good young guys. How about a package of Ortmeyer and Hossa?

Ortmeyer and "The Bad" Hossa? For Shane Doan? That would be very generous of the Rangers to give up such AWESOME talent... Typical Ranger fan, looking for something for nothing... Throw in BOZOlinsh and you could have Jovanovski also... Stunning arrogance, Messiah...
