Forsberg Follies Continue

1) It appears that the Peter Forsberg situation just won't be resolved easily. We first reported a month or so ago that Peter decided that he didn't want to waive his no trade clause and wanted to use the extra time off to rest his injured body
2) Late yesterday we received mixed signals in the media. Some outlets went with a story that Forsberg agreed to waive the clause so the Flyers could trade him to a Cup contender, while another report states that Forsberg is denying he did that. Throwing the whole situation back into chaos/uncertainty
3) We asked our reliable Philly source late last night to see what he could tell us about this silly, and apparently fluid situation. What he has been able to discern from talking with unnamed club officials is that Forsberg DID propose waiving the clause IF the Flyers would agree to a hand shake deal that would include "making Forsberg the highest paid Flyer next year with a player option for a second season".
4) Apparently this fact slipped out of the Holmgren meeting, infuriating Forsberg. Now what Peter will decide to do is any one's guess. There is now a stronger possibility that Forsberg will play out his contract and go back to Europe for good. However, don't count out the Flyers from trying again to prod Peter once more. What is certain the next few weeks will be interesting in Philly.

Any chance my Oil will go after Forsberg? With Calgary getting Conroy we could use him. I think if we can get Forsberg we'd be the favourite

Peter can legitimately make any team a favoUrite... The Forsberg sweepstakes certainly have the eyes of the NHL on Philly...

1) We have to agree with our fellow Faux blogger Antz that any team that gets a healthy Peter Forsberg will be significantly improved.
2) For that reason we can see why the Flyers will do whatever they can to try to persuade the Swede to waive his no trade clause
3) Usually a playoff rental doesn't fetch a great reward, but with a player of his potential a bidding war could conceivably develop. Driving up the return
4) The question Holmgren and the Flyers will have to ask themselves is, if Forsberg is asking for assurances of a significant multi year contract this summer(with a likely new no trade clause) in order to allow a trade now, is he worth it?
We don't think so. Not inthe newe NHL where wasted salary can hurt!

blah blah blah blah forsberg...he is done, he might give you 15 of the last 30 games in the regular season, and he might last a playoff series, his body is shot. he would be smart to stay in philly, who are not going to make the playoffs, and then spend all the extra time off trying to heal his aching body. i am bored of the forsberg sweepstakes already..shit or get off the pot peter.

1) You and many of us are sick of the Forsberg silliness, but you can be sure it will NOT go away until the deadline passes OR he accepts a trade
