Phoenix-Ranger Talks Heat Up Again

1) Sources close to both teams tells FAUXRUMORS this afternoon that discussions between the Rangers and the Coyotes have resumed. Many may recall about a month or so ago the two teams were discussing the possibility of a swap. Talks broke off when the Blue Shirts went on a winning streak and decided to keep their current roster unchanged.
2) After a lack luster couple of weeks, Ranger GM Glen Sather has again contacted his counterpart in Phoenix Mike Barnett about the possibility of a trade. The Rangers would love to ship out their offensively gifted, but troubled blue liner Sandis Olzonish. Who also makes 2.5 mil. Sather would also send along any of a number of draft picks if he received in return the player who he has coveted for quite some time, Shane Doan who is set to become an UFA after this season.
3) Also discussed is center Dave Scatchard. Having a sub par season so far, and not getting too much ice time as of late since the acquisition of Yanic Perrault, but still well regarded as a hard nosed gritty player who is decent on draws. Something that the Ranger's brass feels they could definitly use more of.
4) Another rumor that IS NOT exclusive to FAUXRUMORS is the return of Allison. We hear/read that he wants a deal of around 3 mil/year. We have NO idea why anyone would suddenly give him that kind of dough, but perhaps a team that is in desperate straits for offense and has cap space might decide to give him a whirl.

I would love to see this guy come to the Rangers! He's been hurt but seems to be healthy and playing better lately. If we can unload Ozolinsh in the process it'll be huge! I'd take Scatchard too if Doan isn't available. I LOVE Jagr, but we have too many Europeans

Ozolinsh is finished..if the Rangers can hoodwink the Yotes into basically giving up their franchise player, good on them...i could see a Scatcard for Oz deal..still the Yotes take a hell of a cap hit on a dude whose best days are behind him, and has a history of injuries.
Allison will never find work if he is dilusional enough to think he is worth 3 mil...too slow, too one dimensional...he will get work on a playoff team looking for some p.p. help, at the trade deadline...but think a mil or less, and subtract some funds because of the fact that he hasn't played for half the season...

a. At least we all agree that this Ranger team is NOT in any jeopardy of winning a Stanley Cup... Their record, with OT/SO losses is 13-14...

b. Of course, BOZOlinsh makes significant sense in trying to deal, but please, not for a Shane Doan, who actually HAS some value... Scatchard to the Rangers would be tolerable, and he is a player who could be successful at MSG...

c. While I pay absolutely NO attention to salary caps (that's what you guys are for), I feel Jason Allison still has something left in the tank, despite his $3 million... The Caps can always use him - they're nowhere near the cap... Even I know that...

Hey Point, why stop there? Make and offer for Crosby AND Malikn. The Penguins would love BOZOlinsh and say.... a clown like Hollweg. C'mon Ranger fans, you ARE NOT entitled to every decent player out there.

Why would Phoenix want Osolinsh?

They have a decent group of Dmen...Morris, Boyton, JovoCop, and Michalak, Jones ,Seidneberg etc...

How does adding Ozolinsh improve their D? Yes I can see Doan being moved...but not for Ozo! And I would think we would see Nagy move first as the relationship between him and Coach Gretz is about expired!

hey faux what do you hear about my islanders getting Allison? the papers said he was being considered.
What is your problem Hockeynutz? It wasnt bad enouff that you keep harassing anyone who likes this sight, now your sending me emails. i don't care how much money you make i am not going to go out with you! So stop asking

1) Hey there Stacey: your second point first. We as a blog can not control what others do with private e-mails. If you're being bothered by them, our advise would be to just delete them before even reading them. You can get authorities involved, but we've found its a difficult task to prove malice unless a direct physical threat was being made. Simply asking you out isn't malice. take it as a compliment. : )
2) As for Allison. We agree with Josepp/Pinko that if he believes he's worth 3 mil/year he's nutz! LOL He would probably be playing now if he had financial demands that corresponded with his ability.
3) Is he worth 1 mil/year. We would do that. Will the isles? Its possible with the Yashin injury that they'll need some depth on their PP, but is Allison a Nolan type of player? We haven't heard otherwise, but if we hear anything concrete we'll post it!

Wow, great comeback there Faux...er...I mean 'Stacey'. Still haven't explained why you copy your blog posts from thebagblog and poppytalk!

Can't come up with your own original stuff? Too busy making up Chris Pronger Rumors? Oh wait that was Faux wasn't it...it all seems the same...I wonder why? ;)

1) You have us a bit confused, was that retort for us or another poster? No matter.
2) We'll let them respond to your question for themselves. As for Pronger, the story that was broken exclusively here has been picked up by several other outlets with some adding to the story
3) one, we will try to get our readers the name, di additional digging and confirmed nearly all the details of our story. thanks guys!

Hey there faux I was surprised you or any of your other regulars here mentioned your nomination?
I read where your blog was nominated as best new hockey blog on the Interactive media awards site. Hope you guys win!!

1) OK, the jmol comment pushed me to respond to the folks who have questioned this rumor
2) OK, for the record, we are NOT advocating this trade, simply relating what our sources close to the people who actually make these decisions are saying/discussing
3) The only part that we are quite certain, the Yotes and Rangers are talking, and the players mentioned HAVE been part of the discussion.

Excellent point JMOL - of course, you are simply re-wording an earlier post of mine... BOZOlinsh (that's what many Rags fans call him), shouldn't return more than a used whiskey bottle... Good to have you regurgitating insight...

Antzmarching said...

Hey FAUX, this would go a long way to restoring your credibility... Have you taken to praying for this thing to "get done?" Lest I forget, these are FAKE rumors, and I should simply log in for the entertainment value...

Hey Joseph (And Hello PINKO), more time saving advice from your buddy ANTZ: This silly, but amusing, quote comes from Frank Drebbin... A simple google will give ya all the irrelevant info...

Antzmarching said...

WOW, Jmol is on my case... Nevertheless, its good to have you here... Come to think of it, I was having lunch in a Tanzanian town called Arusha, and I had some bad chicken salad - touche' JMOL!!!
