Handshake Deal?

Sources in New Jersey tell FAUXRUMORS that there has been at least a hand shake agreement between Lou Lamarello, and Brian Gionta. Apparently, due to cap restraints the Devils can't sign the forward until cap space is cleared.
Ostensively that will occur when Molgilny/Malakhov are either deemed injured, or demoted to Lowell, thus giving the Devils the needed cap space to announce the signing officially.
We're told that there was no way that Gionta would have reported to camp otherwise.
No word what the length/compensation will be, but an insider tells us a 3 year 9 million deal is very possible.
As always keep it here for the latest

We agree with your assessment about Lou. He will not make a move unless it benefits his team.
As for baseball, yes FAUXRUMORS is compiling/accumulating sources around MLB. We will probably publish our post season predictions at the end of this month.
As always, stay tuned.

That's correct. B/C they were both over 35 when their deals were signed, only the first year of the contract wouldn't count if demoted, retired or otherwise. Subsequent years are included only if they are sent to another team. Some homework appears to be in order!

As we have been saying on here for weeks, there is little chance that NJ Dr.'s will medicaly clear Mogilny and his derteriorating hip. This instantly clears up 3.5 mil. The Malakhov siutation isn't as clear. Since he never reported to Albany last year, can he be demoted this year? Questions that are yet to be answered, but we are certain that Lou would be the one to know what is possible, and what is not. After all, he was closely involved in constructing the current CBA.
