Break in the NHL Action - Kudos to the Cards

1. Sorry Met fans. You HAD the best team in the Inferior League from April to October 19th. But, your team couldn't hit and its time to join the Yankees on the golf course. St.Louis won this thing with smoke and mirrors, as well as with a little luck. My sincerest congrats specifically go out to Jeff Suppan, who in my opinion, pitched as clutch a game as anyone possibly could. Following the Chavez catch in the 6th, robbing Rolen of a homer, and then the Rolen error in the bottom, it is remarkable to me the poise he exhibited. While I am generally beyond unimpressed with both of these teams, it is a credit to the Cardinals for basically "getting the job done." I will predict at this time, that they will win only once more this season, which will make Jim Leyland the second manager to win a World Series in both leagues.

2. It was really interesing to watch the reaction of the New York fans following the successive losses of their baseball teams. Yankee fans were pissed. Plain and simple, Pinstripe supporters were mad at everybody and everything. Will A-Rod be back? Will Torre be back? Get rid of Sheffield! Mussina can't win the big one. The Big Unit is too old. Yankee fans were/are unhinged. $200 million wasted on a bunch of losers with no chemistry.

3. Met fans, on the other hand, love their guys. Nobody is threatened to be run out of town after the end of each inning and Shea is another "Utopia." But tonight? - Oh my. There were tears, devastation, and many potential suicide candidates. THIS was the year. How perfect it could have been - 20 years since that magical Game 6 versus the Bosox. And then, IT happened - one ridiculous swing from a .216 hitter, and its all over. I, personally, cannot explain this series. Probably few experts can either. The Tigers SHOULD be salivating, because next week at this time, Motown will be celebrating another title.

As much as i love the tigers, they are young and hungry, remind me of the florida marlins (who i couldn't cheer for, not because of their roster, but well jeffery loria, can bite my white ass, for what he did to my expos). but i have a feeling this is the cards year...sure they stumbled into the playoffs, and sure they are rather atanta bravesque...but the cards pitching, and well albert pujos, give them a slight edge i believe. i hope its a 7 gamer...and that the winning team is either leading by 3 runs with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, or losing buy 3, and smoke a grand slam to win it.....go habs.
